June 19th Giant BFT tirp!
June 18th day, I got a comfirmantion call from BFTC "Milton we are going tonight". I went home tied some knots and grabed some jigs. I met with Tesu San, Rocky San, Aydan and Victor(Aydan's friend) at fisherman depot around 10:30pm.
Roger safely delievered us to the boat by 2:45am. We were on the water by 3:15am. About two hours later, we were at fishing ground. the weather was absolutly cooperating. Tim(the mate) put out some lines with live bunkers and ballons started our day. We waited and saw some fish bust the surface far away. Capt. Chuck then said :" they'll come". No later than 10 mins, there was a big splash and the 50w started signing"zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz". I insisted to fight first, so I got to bend the rod first. I din't feel the fish was fighting hard but Capt Chuck said "it is a big fish" I tired to bring to fish as fast as I can, but a few mins later it spit out the hook. I felt bad for everyone else but happy for the lucky fish. "I will see you another day" said to myself. After I lost the first fish, Tim put out some lines again while the rest of us were jigging. I had a hit and it pulled hard but no hookup. Almost at the same time the line on the 50w started getting striped off. The fish took a lot of line. Still, Aydan, Tesu San and Victor put a nice team work together and brought in the fish within 30 mins. Tim dehooked the fish and messured it 73 inches. This is the bigest fish I have ever seen. Now I really believe that the BFT are getting bigger and bigger in Mass every year. So far we had a nice day(2 fish in first hour). Then Capt. Chuck said to us that he will let us do whatever we want. So we had bunkers on our jigging rods since the jiggs were not getting bitten. The fish were still there. Not much later, a big splash was seen next to Aydan's ballon and took some line. Aydan was excited but he couldn't set the hook. The fish took off happly with aydan's bunker. 3 seconds later, Rocky San's setup was hit. Victor set the hook, I took it over fought for a few mins. while I was fighting, I locked the drag and had my thumb on the spool all the time. The fish was still bullying me around for a few mins. Then I had to give the rod back to Victor since he hooked it. Then Rocky San fought this giant blue fin tuna for the first time in his life. Short time later, the main line broke. This is the first fishing trip ever for Rocky San and he will remember this day for the rest of his life. We tried jigging rod with bunker for the next hour or two but no love. Capt Chuck decided to go inshore to get us some top water action. we saw small school of BFT busting water here and there. We casted and jigged but they were not interested. While we were chasing the fish, the boat broke down for an hour. But that was no challenge to Capt. Chuck. He safely put us on land by 1:00pm. Thanks Capt. Ok here are some pictures, enjoy. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
