Fishing Overview: REDFISH (ROCKFISH)

The redfish is a rockfish species that is very unique. It belongs to a family of fishes (The Rockfishes) that dominates the western US coastline. With over one hundred species of rockfish in the Pacific Ocean, this Atlantic species is a rarity. Though not for their size (rockfish are typically 1-2lbs), their table-quality is world-class. This species thrives in very deep water. Expect to fish in well over 300ft of water! Although as a species, they are greatly abundant and with no creel limit, the effort to catch them is well worth fishing them out of depths!

Generally, expect to use the following techniques on these trips: Bottom Fishing rigs with up to 4 hooks; 14-16oz sinkers. Typical tackle used: 20-40lb class rods, electric reel highly recommended with 40lb braided line. Monofilament line not recommended.
