Fishing Report
We first headed to some shallow water wrecks sitting about 50ft deep. The bite was slow here, so we moved a bit offshore to depts of 80-100ft. The captain tried very hard to put anglers on the right piece. She was excellent at the wheel and quick to double anchor effectively.
The bite was slow and steady throughout the day with small flurries of tautog bites here and there.

Tautog finally started coming over the rail in the afternoon, but far many more black sea bass were caught (which were all released safely, abiding by regulations). After making a few more stops, we finally ended up on a wreck that held decent 5+lb blackfish. Persistance was key today.

The pool fish went to Harold during the last drop. After the fish took him back into the wreck, Harold "played the guitar" plucking and startling tautog right out. He boated the big tog and earned himself the $200 pool. A $100 2nd place pool went to Jimmy.

Overall, best was made given the conditions. The bigger togs still seem to be inshore, but they should migrating off soon with the BIG 15+lb ones soon to be had.

The boat was comfortable, and the cabin warm. Although the ride back was a bit cramped in the cabin, most people found some place to sit or lie down during the ride home.

Although the fishing was slow today, every good tautog fisherman knows that year after year, New Jersey produces some giant tog. In fact, NJ is the state where the world record came from.

Come December, we also know that giant tog start to roam fishable waters. Just take a look at the history of giant tog caught on Miss Atlantic Charters over the last few years:
