Fishing Overview: Blackfish (Tautog)
The approach to catching blackfish is typical of most forms of bottom fishing. However, getting good at catching them is a challenge. These fish are clever and complex. Once hooked, their rod-pounding runs down back into hiding places will set your heart racing, warming your body up in an instant despite frigid conditions this time of year!
1. Generally, expect to use the following techniques on these trips: Bottom Fishing rigs (Bait: usually crab or clam) with up to 2 hooks; 8-14oz sinkers (depending on depth and/or tide).
2. Typical tackle used: 15-40lb class rods, conventional reels with 30-50lb braided or 20-25lb monofilament line.
Fishing Equipment: Not Provided.
Bait: Green Crab Provided. Please see charter website for further details.
Boat Fare (Tips Included): $120 per Angler / Limited to 8 anglers per charter. |
